Welcome Center Art

June - July

The June - July exhibit showcases Wearable Art creations by artists Laverne Zabielski and Nancy Walker. Each artist uses their skills and vision to create custom garments that reflect and communicate the spirit of each garment’s recipient.

Laverne Zabielski

“My artistic mission is to help you in midlife and beyond to stop suppressing and to start expressing your unique, colorful, deeper self through what you wear, what you write. Each statement piece in my one-of-a-kind wearable art collection is handmade and designed to encourage you to express who you really are, what you like and what you stand for. Many of my designs are made using fabric I created or that I hand dyed.

My deepest desire when designing my wearable art is to capture an essence of intrigue and statement-making that exudes confidence. I do this by living a layered life.  By layering everything, as it occurs I let the thread reveal itself.  And it always will if I stay true to myself, my ideas. I embrace the mantra "go with the flow." As ideas arise, I layer them onto my many canvasses, my work, my art, my writing. I allow them to be part of each composition. I trust the process.”

Nancy Walker

“Designing and sewing prom dresses, wedding gowns, and other custom apparel is both a challenge and a joy. It is so gratifying when the recipient is pleased with the result.”
